Does your body signal you when you have been burning the candle at both ends? Perhaps you recognize a joint or an area of weakness or a simple, daily movement that had never been uncomfortable but can be now? Listen to your body. It is whole and integrated.
Our practice is to become more aware of th wholeness. How does my foot strength and ability support my knees? my hips and back? my shoulders and neck? How does my every movement arise from breath through the spine and outward? How do my systems work together — digestion, immune function, nervous system and the senses, cardio-vascular, lymphatic, and all the systems of the body and mind?
LEt’s begin as we do every day. WE awaken the spine by moving it in three planes of its basic function. We clear lymphatic channels and we mobilize the joints, all guided by breath. We are yoking.
Let’s go.
What is needed for hand balances? How do they build? How do we enter and exit? Where is shtira?
Beginning again means asking familiar questions and looking for the answers in the posture, observing what doesn’t work, and what does. Learning twice, and twice again in Beginners Mind.
I recorded this last night because I must be on the road during our usual time. Here we observe three planes of functional spinal movement with breath. I invite you to recall warm-ups of this past week and to practice from whatever you can recall. If you cannot recall, then reboot yr favorite livestream recording and use that.
This week marks the start of a new endeavor at the SAMURAI INTI Martial Arts Studio in Frisco. I’ll be teaching i a group class there at Sendai Sebastian Mejias ‘ dojo on Monday and Wednesday mornings.
