Thanks go to our teachers again every day. Of course, Kumar. Sometimes I would say Kumar that looks like a Tai Chi move, and he’d respond “Whatever you want to call it is not the point. The breathing, man. The breath is the life and the life is the breath. The breath will teach you.”
Meet Master Chunyi Lin of Spring Forest Qigong in Minnesota, another amazing teacher who focuses on Pranic Healing methods via the Chinese lineages. His work aligns with Kumar’s “ stylistic appropriations and creative somatic inspirations.” Master Lin has emphasized the cupped patting and the finger tapping with breath upon key points in the body. These key points often correspond with what yoga calls “the marmas.” You can feel almost immediate results with many of Master Lin’ s guided breath patterns.
Further, as we recognize teachers this month, Dr. Perry Nickelston’s work shares information about the systems of the body and how they work together. The primary medical model of our contemporary USA focuses on analytics to the detriment of health. Dr. Perry’s broad-ranging insight is born of his health recoveries.
Both men listed above count as a teacher for our community here, and for me. Check them out and get back to me as to what you think.

I invite you to recall warm-ups of this past week and to practice from whatever you can recall. If you cannot recall, then reboot yr favorite livestream recording and use that.

This book was fundamental to body movement and awareness. Notice the three planes of functional spine.
If you ask a personal trainer, a pilates teacher, a yoga teacher, and a massage therapist about “core strength” it is likely you will get different answers.
We wish to observe the diaphragm as the central origin of neuromuscular action — activating channels of strength down through the lumbar vertebrae, hips, legs, feet. And likewise int he opposite direction up the spine through the thoracic spine, shoulders, neck and skull.
Here is an image for us to keep in mind and note how we humans hold together — feet to fingertips and eyes.
