Hello my friends,
As I celebrate my 66th birthday, I’ve committed to making this online channel. I Invite you to join me every day.
Every day Monday through Saturday at 6:30 am central time, we make a fundamental yoga warm up of the body, breath, and mind.
Every day our warm up includes breath delivery in the three planes of functional movement.
Every day we awaken joint mobility. Everyday we activate the the lymphatic plumbing system of the body. In so doing, we allow the body to clear metabolic waste and to signal the full metabolic function of all systems of the body. Digestive system, immune function, cardio vascular, respiratory, endocrine and nervous systems, fascial network, the senses and the mind— all integrate, all harmonize.
Every day we create a uniquely present response using the fundamentals. Biomechanics are essential. However, we use the practice as tools to recognize form and ultimately, to realize essence beyond form.
Every day we aim to share a random passage from an anthology of quotations from yogis, swamis, pandits, scholars, teachers, poets and writers, artists and clowns. They’re a bunch of wise guys. Not so different from you or me.
Join us every day.
Everyday. Everyday we do not miss. We cultivate the good habits of steady practice — discipline, self-examination, awakened presence, receptivity to the power of our Creator.
Join us every day. See you soon, see you tomorrow,
J
ps. it’s not uncommon these days to talk about the world as a simulation, as a matrix of illusion, as a video game made by the game-developer. nothing new here. just different words for the ancient observation of the limitations of our conditioned senses, and a different name for a power greater than us, God, Brahman, Higher Power, the Divine.
traditionally, the yoga practices have provided tools for uniting one’s whole attention with the object of attention, the highest object of attention being the Divine. whether you’re a wise guy or not, i invite you to clear the senses, wake up yr body and mind, and yoke toward the Divine. every day.
What is needed for hand balances? How do they build? How do we enter and exit? Where is shtira?
Beginning again means asking familiar questions and looking for the answers in the posture, observing what doesn’t work, and what does. Learning twice, and twice again in Beginners Mind.
I recorded this last night because I must be on the road during our usual time. Here we observe three planes of functional spinal movement with breath. I invite you to recall warm-ups of this past week and to practice from whatever you can recall. If you cannot recall, then reboot yr favorite livestream recording and use that.

This book was fundamental to body movement and awareness. Notice the three planes of functional spine.
If you ask a personal trainer, a pilates teacher, a yoga teacher, and a massage therapist about “core strength” it is likely you will get different answers.
We wish to observe the diaphragm as the central origin of neuromuscular action — activating channels of strength down through the lumbar vertebrae, hips, legs, feet. And likewise int he opposite direction up the spine through the thoracic spine, shoulders, neck and skull.
Here is an image for us to keep in mind and note how we humans hold together — feet to fingertips and eyes.
