First, observe the cycle of your breath, the inhale and the exhale. To be present in your breath is to place your attention on the breath cycle. This activates awareness of the functional breath mechanics and also the functional imagination as a tool to illuminate.
Second, recognize life force energy — prana — drawn into you with the inhale. It is easy to imagine
sunlight entering the lungs, blood, and body
Third, direct the life force into the physical vessel of the body. Shift the body and you shift the vessel. You shift the form. You activate the channels of life.
Innumerable variations are possible. All variations observe rhythm, timing, nose and/or mouth, expansion and contraction.
Begin breathing practices by observing your “normal” breath Make no force in your breathing efforts.
