BREATH.
Every person is an expert since everybody has been breathing day and night, every day since before you can remember. You go to sleep at night and wake up in the morning and you’re still breathing. But when you practice breathing consciously you open to real potential and can unlock many limiting conditions.
First, observe yourself breathing normally without any change. Then, make intentional changes. Observe the breath through the nose. Observe the breath cycle as an exhale and an inhale. Observe the lungs as they fill from the bottom to the top. Can you put your attention on the present moment of the breath cycle? To place your attention on the breath cycle allows you to yoke attention, breath, body. You enter the nervous system and the functions of body and mind, strength, balance, function, emotion, memory, thought.
What is needed for hand balances? How do they build? How do we enter and exit? Where is shtira?
Beginning again means asking familiar questions and looking for the answers in the posture, observing what doesn’t work, and what does. Learning twice, and twice again in Beginners Mind.
I recorded this last night because I must be on the road during our usual time. Here we observe three planes of functional spinal movement with breath. I invite you to recall warm-ups of this past week and to practice from whatever you can recall. If you cannot recall, then reboot yr favorite livestream recording and use that.
