Hello my friends, the online geography is starting to turn into a map.
1) Starting next Monday, October 2nd, I’ll be going live on YouTube as usual at 9:00 am. Then within that Monday 9:00 hour I will follow-up with a Livestream on LOCALS. That Livestream will follow-up and expand on what we’ve started that day on YouTube.
For the time being, I will post one Livetream per week on Locals. But I will post other content there during the week.
2) On Wednesdays, I’ll continue the YouTube Livestreams at 9:00, and then I’ll go to Instagram to follow-up on the morning’s yoga warmup. If you are on Instagram you can find me @jeffrykfarrell.
3) In Locals I will post additional yoga content, much of which will be available to everyone, and some of which will be available to paid supporters only.
4) As an added thanks to Paying Supporters, I’ll post fresh notes, quotes, and excerpts from the Kumar book.
Let me know if you have thoughts or requests. Invite others to join if you think they might be interested in this content.
Thanks guys!
PS:
The photo below is an original shot from one of my first yoga students more than 20 years ago. He was a travel photographer and took this shot while in India. While hiking in the jungle he stumbled upon this tiger who was eating lunch. It shook him up but he got a great shot. Notice the nose. There he super-imposed another image of a man in focused intent. Focused Intent is Sankalpa, a good title for this photo.
What is needed for hand balances? How do they build? How do we enter and exit? Where is shtira?
Beginning again means asking familiar questions and looking for the answers in the posture, observing what doesn’t work, and what does. Learning twice, and twice again in Beginners Mind.
I recorded this last night because I must be on the road during our usual time. Here we observe three planes of functional spinal movement with breath. I invite you to recall warm-ups of this past week and to practice from whatever you can recall. If you cannot recall, then reboot yr favorite livestream recording and use that.

This book was fundamental to body movement and awareness. Notice the three planes of functional spine.
If you ask a personal trainer, a pilates teacher, a yoga teacher, and a massage therapist about “core strength” it is likely you will get different answers.
We wish to observe the diaphragm as the central origin of neuromuscular action — activating channels of strength down through the lumbar vertebrae, hips, legs, feet. And likewise int he opposite direction up the spine through the thoracic spine, shoulders, neck and skull.
Here is an image for us to keep in mind and note how we humans hold together — feet to fingertips and eyes.
